Sharing bundles safely
CareFlow Kids and CareView Family use .pemr bundles to move the medical record between devices.
Because the bundle contains the complete portable patient record, it should be shared carefully.
How bundles are usually shared
A .pemr bundle is typically shared between:
- the doctor using CareFlow Kids
- the family using CareView Family
The normal workflow is:
- The doctor exports the updated
.pemrbundle after a visit. - The bundle is sent to the family.
- The family opens it in CareView Family.
- The family may add notes or documents.
- The updated bundle can later be shared back with the doctor.
This allows the same medical record to remain cumulative and portable.
Recommended sharing methods
A .pemr bundle can be shared using common file‑transfer methods such as:
- secure messaging
- encrypted email attachments
- AirDrop
- secure cloud storage links
When possible, choose a method that provides end‑to‑end encryption.
Do not modify bundles manually
Although a .pemr file is technically an archive, it should not be opened or modified manually.
Manually changing the contents may:
- corrupt the medical record
- break file integrity
- make the bundle unreadable by the application
Bundles should only be:
- opened in CareFlow Kids or CareView Family
- updated through the application interface
Keeping bundles secure
Because .pemr bundles contain sensitive medical information, they should be handled carefully.
Good practices include:
- sharing bundles only with trusted healthcare professionals
- avoiding public or insecure file sharing services
- storing bundles in secure locations
Families are also encouraged to keep a backup copy of important bundles.

This loop allows the patient record to remain portable while staying under the control of the clinician and family.
