Glossary

This glossary defines common terms used in the CareFlow Kids and CareView Family documentation.

The goal is to provide a shared vocabulary for clinicians, families, and developers.

.pemr bundle

A .pemr bundle is the portable file that contains the patient's medical record.

It may include:

  • the structured medical database
  • visit records
  • growth data
  • attached medical documents

The bundle can be opened by CareFlow Kids (doctor app) and CareView Family (patient app).

Bundle

A short name for the .pemr bundle containing the patient's portable medical record.

CareFlow Kids

The clinician application used by doctors to manage patient records, document visits, generate reports, and export .pemr bundles.

CareView Family

The patient viewer application used by families to open .pemr bundles, review visit reports, view growth charts, and access documents.

Local‑first model

An architecture where medical data is stored locally on the device instead of in a permanent central database.

In this model, the .pemr bundle contains the full patient record and moves between devices when needed.

Visit

A medical consultation recorded in the patient record.

Two main types of visits exist:

  • Sick visit – consultation for an illness
  • Well visit – preventive consultation focused on growth and development

Visit report

A report generated from the structured data of a visit.

The report summarizes the consultation and may include:

  • clinical observations
  • growth evaluation
  • guidance or recommendations

Reports are generated on demand rather than stored permanently inside the bundle.

Growth table

The structured table of measurements used to record growth data such as:

  • weight
  • height or length
  • head circumference

These measurements are used to generate growth charts and evaluate growth trends.

Growth chart

A visual representation of how a child's measurements evolve over time compared with standard pediatric growth references.

Problem listing

A structured summary of the main clinical issues identified during a visit.

The problem listing helps organize medical findings and supports clinical documentation.

Addendum

An additional note added after a visit to record follow‑up information without modifying the original consultation record.

AI assistance

Optional clinical decision support that analyzes structured visit data and provides informational suggestions to the clinician.

AI output does not replace clinical judgment and must always be interpreted by the physician.

Support log

A technical diagnostic file generated by the application to help troubleshoot problems.

Support logs may contain information about application activity and errors.

Integrity verification

A mechanism that checks whether the database inside a .pemr bundle has been altered or corrupted.

Integrity protection helps ensure the medical record remains trustworthy.

Encryption

A security mechanism that protects the structured medical database inside the .pemr bundle so that it cannot be easily read outside the application.
